DIFFERENT VARIETIES
OF LEATHER

Leather is produced by the San Miniato company in a wide variety of thicknesses, according to the different intended uses and on specific request from the customers.
The production and marketing of leather has been going on for four generations; over the years, the company has gained notoriety on an international scale, and has become part of the Tuscan Leather Consortium.

The various stages of production and marketing of the leather are totally internal to the company, and this allows you to check, from a qualitative point of view, the entire process, the processing techniques and the products used, guaranteeing the absolute excellence of the finished product .

HISTORICAL TUSCAN TANNERY

The CMC international Group opened its doors in 1972, thanks to the union of three industrialists with decades of experience in the leather production and marketing sector. The historic site, which has been renovated over the years, is located in Ponte a Egola, a few km from the exit of the FI-PI-LI highway of Santa Croce sull'Arno.

Over time, the business has changed slightly: from mass production, we have moved on to differentiation, so as to fully satisfy the requests of individual and prestigious customers.

FEATURES OF THE LEATHER

The leather has very high resistance and hygiene characteristics, which make it particularly suitable for the production of numerous commonly used products.
It is knownnthat leather footwear favors perspiration, thus avoiding the development of fungi, molds and other pathologies affecting the skin and the foot, caused by the stagnation of humidity inside the shoe.

The same goes for other products intended for the production of clothing, such as jackets and leather accessories. It is said that the leather "breathes", since it accepts and freely transmits the water vapor naturally emitted by the human body.

THE STRUCTURE OF THE LEATHER

The structure of the leather is made up of a particular three-dimensional weave of collagen fibers. The latter is a protein that causes leather to also have thermal insulating properties, which prove to be very valuable especially when the climate becomes more harsh.

Leather also has good electrical conductivity, and by virtue of this the use of leather shoes also avoids the unpleasant sensation of "electric shock".
